About the Founder
David Luck, based in London, UK, is a dedicated professional with a passion for sustainable finance and investment. He currently serves as the Chair of the Sustainable Finance Network Steering Group - for the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) the global professional body for over 20,000 individuals and 300 organisations working, studying or interested in the environment and sustainability.
During his decade long tenure at Numis, he served most latterly as both the Head of Sustainability and as a senior salesman in the Investment companies team. Numis (now Deutsche Numis) is a prominent UK corporate broking and advisory house, David played a key role in leading the ESG task force and was a member of the ESG executive committee, where he focused on driving impactful initiatives. One notable achievement was his leadership in establishing the highly regarded Numis Sustainable Series, a platform that brought together leading experts in ESG and sustainability from across Europe.
David's career has been marked by influential positions within global investment banks, including Jefferies, JP Morgan, and RBS. His financial expertise and strategic mindset have consistently yielded impressive results, particularly in executing financing strategies like IPOs and secondary placements in the Investment Companies sector. David has played an instrumental role in securing over £10 billion in funding for numerous high-profile investment companies launching and raising capital across multiple asset classes including listed equity, private equity, collateralised loan and debt obligations, reinsurance, hedge funds, asset-backed securities, infrastructure and over the last decade specialising in renewables.
These accomplishments have established him as a trusted and multi-year Extel award winning professional within the financial industry. One significant milestone in David's career was his contribution as a vital member of the deal team that successfully launched the first-ever solar fund on a stock exchange. This pioneering effort integrated renewable energy projects into the investment landscape and set a precedent for listed sustainable investment vehicles in the UK. David holds an MSc with Distinction in Finance and Marketing from the University of Exeter, complementing his BSc in Management Science & Information Technology from its renowned School of Mathematical Sciences.
Currently, David is pursuing a Master of Liberal Arts in the Sustainability program at Harvard, as he continues to expand his knowledge and expertise in the field of sustainable finance. Outside of his professional pursuits, David finds personal fulfilment in participating in triathlons. Notably, he achieved a significant milestone as a Full Ironman Wales finisher in 2017, showcasing his dedication and perseverance in both his personal and professional endeavours.
